Vanities
This series is based on images of vanities from the collection in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Drawing is the foundation of all art, as it hinges on perception. While I employ computer technology in my work, I also yearn for the directness of drawing and painting, nurturing my affinity for materials and the tactile experience of printmaking.

GRAPHING AN UNCERTAIN FUTURE
As Covid-19 made travel impossible, I sought refuge at a cottage on the Russian River in western Sonoma County, where everything was shuttered, and time seemed to stand still. My satellite studio became my sanctuary, a unique kind of artist residency amidst the uncertainties of Covid-19 and the bizarre weather patterns wrought by increasingly intense climate change. Going to my satellite studio each day was a way of calming my anxieties as I lost myself in the joys of mark-making. Drawing is the foundation of all art, as it hinges on perception. While I employ computer technology in my work, I also yearn for the directness of drawing and painting, nurturing my affinity for materials and the tactile experience of printmaking.
